Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
My name is Kristine and I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. I run a plus size fashion blog called TrendyCurvy.com. The theme of my blog is “a curvy girl living in a trendy world” and my content follows my journey as a plus size woman keeping up with the latest fashion styles and trends. Aside from blogging, I work professionally in marketing and have worked across many industries.
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Outgoing, personable, driven
What Profession other than yours would you love to attempt?
I love any profession that allows me to be creative and think outside the box. This is why I believe Marketing and blogging are so perfect for me. If I had to choose another profession though, I would probably choose something along the lines of event planning. I would enjoy the fact that no two events would be the same and it would allow me to bring a unique vision to life.
What is your favorite quote?
Oh gosh I have so many but lately, my go to quote has been “Great things never came from comfort zones.” It just speaks to me because plenty of people have dreams, goals and aspirations but I think too many times, we let hard work and obstacles deter us from reaching the height of our potential. Sometimes you just have to take risks and make things happen in order to fulfill your dreams and unlock your purpose.
What inspired your blog?
I have been plus size and curvy my whole life so I know how difficult it can be at times to find figure flattering clothing. I also know that it’s not impossible and I just wanted to show not only other plus size women, but the world as well that we can be just as stylish and just as trendy as anyone else. I’m a firm believer that when you feel good about yourself, you do good for others and clothes really have the power to transform your self-esteem. So I just wanted to serve as a resource for women and be a hub for confidence and positivity. I was inspired to inspire!
What is your favorite social media platform and why?
I would have to say Instagram. A picture is worth a thousand words and I just feel like people connect more with visual images. I also feel like Instagram allows me to share a little bit more about my personal life and just who I am as a person.
Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?
Everywhere! I love to people watch so I definitely derive inspiration from others styles and their use of color even if it is not particularly my taste.
What do you think it is about your blog that keeps people coming back for more?
I think that people are attracted to the fact that my looks work for not only plus size women, but women in general. My style tends to be pretty classic and in that, it’s very attainable for women of all shapes and sizes.
How does a brand get your attention for a feature?
Email is the best way to get in touch with me. I can be reached at Kristine@trendycurvy.com.
What do you love most about blogging?
I love connecting with people from all over the world. I am constantly amazed with the reach that my blog has attained in just a short amount of time and it is just a great feeling to know that I have an imprint in different countries.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself just continuing on this journey and doing something that I love to do. New opportunities and ideas are constantly popping up so I just plan to see where this road leads to, enjoying every moment along the way.
In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?
I think the best blogs are the ones that are the most genuine. Bloggers that are genuinely dedicated to the mission of their blog and that are passionate about the content they produce grow the most loyal followings.
