The holidays can be a stressful time for PR agencies. With gift guides mostly published and pitch responses slowing down, end of year reports can feel daunting. Here’s 3 of our favorite tips for ramping up press coverage in December:
Submit your client for “Last-Minute Holiday Gifts” roundups.
Missed your early holiday gift guide deadline? Many outlets still publish “last-minute gift ideas” that can be perfect fits for your beauty, fitness, and lifestyle clients. Typically, these roundups can be submitted to up until the week before Dec 25, and sometimes even after they’re live. This is a great opportunity for roundup placements to wrap up the year.
Don’t send hasty follow-up emails.
The end of the year is a busy time for everyone, and it’s important to remember that reporters are also shopping, traveling, and spending time with family. It’s important to give your contacts ample time to read, evaluate, and respond to your inquiry in a meaningful way. By nudging someone too early, you can come off as pushy or insensitive during the holiday season.
Connect with old contacts.
Looking to beef up your client’s end of month reports? Reach out to an old contact and see if they are writing any gift guides or roundups during the holidays. Many freelancers are mapping out pitch ideas for their editors for the New Year, and a quick note can go a long way for a placement to wrap up the year, or kick off the next!
