5 Ways to Boost Your Follower Count on Social Media

If you’ve ever felt discouraged by your stagnant follower count, you’re not alone. In fact, even the top social media accounts have experienced this at one point or another. Even so, as a social media agency, we understand how frustrating it can be when you’ve exhausted all your best options and still aren’t seeing any results. Luckily, here at BLND, we’ve come up with a few tips and tricks that will help you boost your stagnant follower count.
Differentiate Your Account
With over 1 billion active Instagram users, chances are your approach or aesthetic is already being done by someone else. If you want your account to stand out, you’ll need to differentiate yourself in some way. Hone in on what makes you or your brand unique and highlight that through your content. This could be with a specific color scheme, cool graphics or even quirky captions–anything that speaks to the uniqueness of your brand.
Engage With Your Followers
If you want people to engage with your account, you need to engage with them in return. Start a conversation in the comments, reply to direct messages or like a devoted follower’s post. Doing so will not only create a stronger bond with your current followers, but it will also show future followers that you care about your audience.
Find a Schedule That Works For You
As a social media agency, we’ve discovered that finding a happy medium is one of the most effective social media strategies for boosting follower counts. This means that you’re not posting too much or too little, but somewhere in the middle. Check your Instagram analytics and find what has worked best for you in the past and then stick with that. Consistency is key!
Just because you’re trying to boost your Instagram follower count doesn’t mean your efforts should be solely focused on Instagram. Share your posts on Twitter, place your handle on your website or highlight your giveaway opportunity on Facebook. Doing so optimizes your account reach and will drive new audiences to your page.
Remember, Posting Something Is Not Always Better Than Posting Nothing
It’s been three days since you’ve posted and you haven’t had time to make new content. While your first instinct may be to use some of your old backup photos or to find a random graphic on Google, you’ll want to avoid this. Posting an average, off-brand photo could lose you followers, so it’s better to hold off (just for a little) until you have time to create content that truly speaks to your brand.
