Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

I write a fashion and style blog, The Fabulous LIfe of a Natural Disaster and I’m the Social Media Director at Glitter Guide. I currently live in Orange County although I grew up all over the place – I always say I don’t really know where Ibackground-Recovered’m from! Much like my growing up, my career resume has been all over the map. I always knew I wanted to be in a creative industry, I just took a roundabout way of getting there. Originally I wanted to be an actress and went to school for theatre in New Jersey & when that didn’t pan out I got into retail. Then I became an executive assistant to the CEO of a tech startup in Boston and started my blog as a side project. Then I quit my assistant job and moved across the country with my boyfriend and found Glitter Guide! I think that’s a shorter version!

What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?

Creative, hardworking, silly

What Profession other than yours would you love to attempt?

I think actress would be my obvious choice, but I’d also love to be an interior designer.

What is your favorite quote?

Everything will be ok in the end. If it’s not ok, it’s not the end.

What inspired your blog?

I started reading fashion blogs in 2010 and while I loved all the pretty pictures & beautiful clothes, it didn’t really relate to my life – your average 20-something living paycheck to paycheck who doesn’t always take the perfect picture or get it right all the time. I decided share my style stories, outfits & affordable fashion finds in hopes that other girls would relate to me.10891477_591629720967716_654612157534501048_n

What is your favorite social media platform and why?

Hands down Instagram. I’m just such a visual person and I love getting a glimpse into other people’s lives!

Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?

I find a lot of inspiration from magazines, movies, looking back at pictures of my all-time favorite style icons & Pinterest.

What do you think it is about your blog that keeps people coming back for more?

I think – or I hope – that people like my blog because they see I’m just your average girl. I’m not fancy or perfect, I make mistakes and I like to think that people like to see that!

How does a brand get your attention for a feature?

I think a nice email works quite well!

What do you love most about blogging?10734039_587275994736422_2856336872974236608_n

I love all the people I’ve met in person and online. It’s  a wonderful little community! It’s also like an online  style journal. I imagine myself looking back at in my  40s and 50s and saying what was I thinking to some  of my outfits.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

On a beach drinking a margarita. No in all  seriousness, just doing something I love, whether it’s  blogging or not – haven’t given it much thought  beyond that.

In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?

Obviously great writing, pretty pictures and consistent posting helps, but I think a truly great blog is one where there’s a clear voice. And when that voice finds it’s readers and community – well then – there’s magic!
