Can you tell us a bit about you and your background? I started out in my career as a freelance writer, which allowed me to travel while working remotely. It was at this time that I started working on my blog more seriously; with so much beauty surrounding me as a I travelled Europe for an extended period of time, I fell in love with the art of photography and that naturally transitioned perfectly to expanding on my blog and Instagram feed. Today, I run a digital marketing agency called Studio Media, where I get to help businesses on their social media success, content creation, and branding, while also continuing to work on my blog. I’m lucky to have so many wonderful opportunities to work with local and international brands, and to also be able to do the work I love every single day!
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself? Creative, intuitive, and hardworking
What profession other than yours would you love to attempt? I always wanted to be a model, aspiring after my mother who was an International Fashion Model in the 70’s and 80’s. I used to love looking through her portfolio when I was a kid, all the gorgeous and exotic photos filling me with wonder and inspiration. But what I get to do now with my blog is so similar, and at the sub-par height of 5’5, I really can’t complain!
What inspired your blog? My blog started out much differently than it is today, but I’m trying to take it back to the roots: inspiration writing. I always wanted to inspire my readers, to make them feel like they aren’t alone in whatever they’re going through in life. And with so much “fake life” noise out there on social media, I think it’s really important as a blogger to share the honest truth with my readers. Life isn’t perfect, and no blogger is an exception, regardless of how unattainably incredible their feed may look.
What is your favorite social media platform and why? Instagram, but to be completely honest, that love has diminished a little lately. I still love it the most because it’s the easiest way to share beautiful photos and reach a mass amount of people. But with the new algorithm, that is sadly changing. Now Instagram has become more of a popularity contest and most people (bloggers included) have seen their engagement nearly cut in half as a result, which means over time you begin to lose touch with your circle. It’s a tough world out there, and I think the most important thing is to not get too attached to one social channel but to instead diversify and remain flexible.
What do you think it is about your blog that keeps people coming back for more? Well, I would love to say it’s the insight they gain from actually reading my posts. But to be honest, I know the majority of my “readers” are mostly skimmers or lookers. A lot of people just can’t be bothered or don’t have the time to read anymore. So I’d say it’s likely a combination of quality content in all forms: written, photography, and video.
What do you love most about blogging? I love the experiences and opportunities that come of it. Of course, I love the actual work as well – the writing, photography and videography – but the experiences I’ve had through my blog have been some of the best moments of my life. From attending fashion week in NYC to staying at one of the most gorgeous properties with a private pool in Mykonos, I know at the end of my life I’ll look back and have absolutely no regrets.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? 10 years from now I’ll be in my late thirties, so I hope to have a family and a really awesome life, lol. I anticipate that with time, my blogging career will change, how I’m not entirely sure yet. But I do know that I will continue to run and grow Studio Media into a larger company with more creative minds to stand next to me and I hope to be working with internationally-known brands.
What are 3 things you can’t live without? A permanent home. I know that sounds weird, but after being a nomad for a while, the feeling of having a home with a set of keys and an address is just so… essential.
Travel. I absolutely cannot fathom staying in the same place for too long, and whether that’s because I live in one of the rainiest parts of the world is debatable. Ideally, I like to travel at least 6 times a year; there’s just so much out there to see.
My loved ones. This is an obvious choice of course, but again, after travelling and being away from those I love… with sporadic periods of being absolutely all alone… I realize how important it is to stay connected to those who feed your soul and stand behind you.
And, if there was a 4th, I’d say writing. It’s my longest held cathartic practice that I do regularly and without it I become a bit of a crazy person, unable to regulate my moods or even figure out how I’m feeling at any given moment.
If you could spend an entire day with one person, who would it be and what would you do? I love to spend time with my boyfriend, he’s the absolute best, but since I get to do that ALL the time (how lucky am I?) I wish I could spend a full day with my grandmother again. We would just sit on the couch and chat, eat some of her blueberry pancakes, and enjoy one another’s company. Sometimes its the simple things that matter most.
