Best Apps to Keep Your Life On Track

Best Apps

In our mobile age, digital devices may always seem like distractions that we should be using minimally. However, digital devices and technology do not always have to be associated with negative habits. We have come up with a list of free phone applications that are designed to make your life a little easier (and better!).

Mint – As a teen or young adult, we have just begun making our own money and paying our own bills. Bank statements can be confusing to understand and decipher, so we recommend using a money tracking application like Mint. Mint allows you to create realistic budgets for your spending, track and pay bills, and even check your credit score. By setting alerts and reminders for bills, Mint will make sure that you are always on top of these important tasks and avoid paying late fees. Mint is available on the Apple App Store as well as Google Play.

Wunderlist – Whether you are in school or working a job, there are countless tasks that you are instructed to complete daily. It is easy to get distracted and forget to complete tasks. Use Wunderlist to keep your life in sync and make sure that everything that needs to get done, gets done. On the Wunderlist app, you can plan anything from buying groceries to collaborating on a group project with teammates. We personally love this app because it combines personal tasks as well as professional tasks, allowing us to keep everything organized and at the same place. Additionally, Wunderlist is accessible from numerous platforms including but not limited to phones, computers, smartwatches, tablets etc. making it accessible to everyone.

MyFitnessPal – You’ve probably heard of this one before. In the recent 5 years, MyFitnessPal has become more and more popular. This is great for several reasons. People are more aware of their caloric intake as well as exercising habits. Businesses have also been adding their menus to the MyFitnessPal bank, which means that logging your food has been easier than ever. You do not have to be on a diet to be using this app. This app is simply a tracker that allows you to search and log the amount of food that you are intaking as well as tracking the amount of exercise you are completing daily. It has an extremely easy-to-use interface for you to reach your personal goals.

Sleep Cycle – Ever wonder how great your sleep quality is? This handy phone application analyzes your sleep cycles and allows you to wake up at the lightest sleep phase. This means that your phone will learn which sleep cycle you are in and wake you up so that you feel well-rested. It does this by tracking your bodily movements throughout the night in order to analyze your REM-sleep cycles. All you have to do is choose one of the two detecting modes in order to start sleeping better than ever! Sleep Cycle is available on the Apple App Store as well as Google Play.

Penzu – The days of writing in paper diaries are over. Now that everything is digitalized, individuals tend to share their thoughts on social media rather than on paper. However, when you want to journal or write something in private, Penzu is a great place to start. Penzu is a private and customizable online journal that will encourage you to record everything from random shower thoughts to dreams and aspirations. Write from anywhere including your Apple or Android phones to your tablets or computers. It will even send you reminders if you wish to keep yourself on a consistent journaling schedule.

It is important to make sure that social media and other digital distractions do not take over your daily life. What are your favorite applications to keep your life in check? Let us know.
