Every Monday we bring you a blogger feature on a talented individual who inspires us. This week we are featuring the chic Chelsey Hale of West Coast Capri. We’ve had the pleasure of working with her on a couple past projects, and are always impressed with her insightful comments, elegant aesthetic, love for her family and classic LA style.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
I am married to my best friend, Adam and a mama to our little darling, Capri. I grew up in salt lake city, Utah where I love to ski in the winter and enjoy the outdoors. My husband moved me out to California with him right after we got married and I have loved living on the west coast. We love being by the beach and soaking up as much time there as we can. I have always been into fashion and my clothes since I was in first grade and had to pick out my own clothes for school so I would look “cool”. And luckily my style has improved since then;) Studying interior design in college was a natural fit for me because I have always been artistic and seeked creative outlets wherever I could, whether it was through dancing, taking art classes, or in my fashion. West Coast Capri is a creative outlet for all of my passions in fashion, design, cooking, traveling, and being a mom.
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
outgoing, ambitious, creative
What Profession other than yours would you love to attempt?
I would love to be a photographer. I’ve always loved capturing moments with pictures because it’s the best way to remember those precious moments in life.
What is your favorite quote?
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” –Nelson Mandela
As an interior designer, I have always loved having a creative outlet and expressing my taste in my fashion. So once I had our little girl and decided to work from home, I wanted a place where I could share all of my passions – my interior design advice, the latest in fashion, cooking a delicious meal, and traveling around while being a mom. This became the start of West Coast Capri that’s all about living a more beautiful life.
What is your favorite social media platform and why?
Instagram, because i love how you can share little glimpses into your daily life through small snapshots and it’s easier to reach lots of people.
Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?
I find inspiration all around me, from magazines, shopping, pinterest, and sometimes even other bloggers. Sometimes things just come to me when i’m out and about running errands and I have to hurry and take a picture or write it down so I don’t forget. I am constantly being inspired.
What do you think it is about your blog that keeps people coming back for more?
I work really hard to make sure that every post i put up each day is a quality post and that it offers something for people. I try to keep a balance in all the different areas that I blog about so that there is always something for everyone. And i only post about something i really love or a product that I already use myself. I hope that keeps people coming back for more, knowing that they get to hear from a real voice everyday and hopefully be inspired to live a more beautiful life.
How does a brand get your attention for a feature?
I love finding new companies to work with, but it’s really great when they reach out to me with a fun idea for a post or collaboration and we come up with a fabulous photoshoot. I love working with so many different types of companies whether they are big or small, if it’s a good fit for my brand then that’s all that matters.
What do you love most about blogging?
I love the amazing network of people that i’ve been able to meet and the fabulous companies I’ve had the opportunity to work with. Also meeting people who have read my blog and were inspired by a post is the best thing to hear.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I hope to be enjoying life with my husband and kids while traveling and experiencing new adventures together. I’m sure there will be lots of designing and styling in there as well! F
In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?
First of all, I think you have to be passionate about what you are doing because if you love it and are doing it for that reason first, then your work will show that and separate you from the rest. Quality is key in everything from the photos, website design, graphics, and each blog post everyday. I think that is what separates the great ones.
