Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
I grew up on the east coast and relocated to Los Angeles several years ago. I began in acting and hosting then stumbled my way into blogging in 2009. I was always fashion obsessed growing up so it’s really no surprise.
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Honest, Driven, Workaholic
What Profession other than yours would you love to attempt?
I think travel writing would be amazing.
What is your favorite quote?
Paris is always a good idea.
What inspired your blog?
I was going through a breakup and trying to find my own voice again. Sometimes when you are in a long-term relationship it’s easy to forget about your own needs and wants. My blog was an outlet to do that.
What is your favorite social media platform and why?
Instagram, because I love photography
Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?
Everywhere…my mood, my closet, the season, magazines, instagram, Pinterest, a good weekend spent with friends.
What do you think it is about your blog that keeps people coming back for more?
I got a comment from a reader who said I am one of the realest bloggers out there. She said I don’t pretend to be something that I’m not and it comes across. I would agree that with me what you see is what you get. I may not share every detail of my life, but what I do share is 100% me.
How does a brand get your attention for a feature?
They have to fit with my style and have to resonate with my readers. Also it makes a big difference if they value the work we are doing. Blogging is a job, that it takes hours of work to shoot, edit and write a post, not to mention the SEO optimizing, social promotion etc. The person who is pitching isn’t working for free, they shouldn’t expect the blogger to either.
What do you love most about blogging?
The ability to be creative, exposure to amazing new brands, and connecting with so many amazing people that I get to share it with.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I’d love to be hosting an entertainment/ fashion news or travel show.
In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?
A great blog has original content and doesn’t regurgitate ideas from other blogs. There are so many copycats out there and I think it’s a shame that it’s oversaturating the blogging industry. Also the level of commitment is key. A successful blog takes hours of hard work each and everyday. There are no days off and vacations are work. But if you love it, you wouldn’t have it any other way.
