BLND Featured Blogger: Rebekah of Goldfish Kiss

Goldfish Kiss

This week we’re bringing you our favorite blogger on Tuesday! We’re so excited to have Rebekah Steen on the blog today! Rebekah Steen is the creative gal behind the blog Goldfish Kiss. She started the blog in Hawaii, travels back there as much as she can afford to, because she now lives in LA. She’s an outdoors and water-loving health enthusiast, artist and beach bum, who honestly loves sharing her life, style, finds, inspiration and musings daily. Her motto: Don’t be a beach. Go to one. Read more about Rebekah here!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?background
Oh man. I wish talking about myself was easy. Here, I’ll be brief. I am originally from Colorado, and have always been an active, healthy, fresh air and water loving gal. Even since I was a toddler. Seriously. I’d crawl into a pool, sit on the bottom and wait for someone to get me. I’ve also always been an artist or creative gal in some form, painting and writing as long as I could remember. SO I like to call me self an artistic meathead, salt water and fresh air addict.

What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Happy, Creative. Wanderlusting.

What Profession other than yours would you love to attempt?
Chef on a surf charter somewhere.

What is your favorite quote?
“I get rich each day in ways that don’t count at the bank.” _Gerry Lopez

What inspired your blog?
Things that I love…and needing a creative outlet.

What is your favorite social media platform and why?
Toss up between twitter and Instagram. Twitter: Because I love having a place to document random thoughts and stuff I see or read. Instagram: because I simply LOVE taking pics on my phone. It’s ridiculous.

Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?
When I get outside, to the beach, in the water, and observing people or documenting the random thoughts that come into my head. And traveling, even if it’s a quick day trip, or going somewhere new that requires a passport.

What do you think it is about your blog that keeps people coming back for more?
Not sure, maybe because it’s different that most blogs tag are out there? Whatever it is, I am extremely grateful for all the visitors.

How does a brand get your attention for a feature?
Pretty simple, they email me, or we meet, and I just really like their brand (aka I would buy it and be interested in it even if the company didn’t contact me I think it’s different, or think the person/company is super rad.)

What do you love most about blogging?
Being able to be a positive influence and impact on people. Some emails I get honestly make me cry. In a great way.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Well, my husband and I are expecting our first kiddo in the next few months. So a wife of 17 years and mom of a 10 year old who is living life to the fullest and am amped about each day and whatever God has in store for me career wise at that time.

In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?
Originality, it’s intentions, and integrity. Those three together are pretty hard to beat.
