Every Monday we bring you a feature of a talented influencer who inspires us. This week we’re excited to share with you Alyssa of Platinum & Penniless. The reason we’re huge fans of Alyssa and Platinum & Penniless is because she stays true to who she is, believes less is more when it comes to style and can’t live without iced coffee, pizza and Instagram, something we can definitely relate with! Read more about Alyssa here.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
background copy I’m 21 years old and am a student at The Fashion Institute of Technology studying advertising, marketing and communications. I grew up in central New Jersey 10 minutes from the beach and 40 minutes from the city. Growing up so close to both extremes has shaped me as a person and has definitely influenced my sense of style as well as my personality. Some of my favorite things include dogs, donuts, music and shoe shopping. Just to name a few.

What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Motivated, energetic, reliable

What Profession other than yours would you love to attempt?
Dream job- creative director. All hail Jenna Lyons.

What is your favorite quote?
“It is what it is”

What inspired your blog?
Other blogs. Sounds super cliche but I would spend countless hours obsessing over other fashion blogs and after months of saying ‘i wish’ and ‘i can’t’ I finally decided to start my own and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made as well as my favorite hobby.

What is your favorite social media platform and why?
Instagram. I follow all fashion influencer related accounts so all of the images are super stimulating and inspiring to me!

Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?
Instagram, Pinterest, street style, other fashion blogs, my fellow students at FIT.

What do you think it is about your blog that keeps people coming back for more?
I’m totally myself and I only post things that I genuinely like or care about. I feel most big bloggers nowadays are only posting things that make them money, which, at the end of the day is important if it’s your career, but I think it’s really important to stay true to yourself at the end of the day. I want my followers and readers to trust me as an influencer so when I collaborate with other brands I make sure that it’s always something I back 100%.

How does a brand get your attention for a feature?
When collaborating with a brand for a feature, they usually reach out to me through email or through instagram.

What do you love most about blogging?
Connecting with my readers and meeting a ton of cool people.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Maybe married, maybe kids, a ton of dogs, hopefully still fashionable. And blogging.

In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?
Great bloggers are consistent and always stay true to themselves.
