While the holidays are a wonderful time to celebrate with friends and families, they can leave you feeling tired and not very productive. Even though it’s a slower time for a lot of businesses it’s still a crucial time to set yourself up for success in the new year. Here are our top tips to come back strong and ready to tackle anything.
Spend time prepping for the week – It all starts before the holidays even end. Don’t make the mistake of booking your flight back the Sunday before you go back to work. Get back one or two days before Monday to relax, meal prep, and get your mind ready to dive into serious work. You won’t regret it!
Create a to-do list and prioritize items – As soon as you get back to the office, create a to-do list. Select a color for urgency (from most important to least), so you aren’t overwhelmed by the huge size of the list. We love using Trello boards for this reason. This will also create realistic goals for what you need and can get done each day.
Organize your desk – We can’t think straight until our desk is organized. Take out anything and everything that has piled up over the holidays. It is also important to throw away anything from the last year that no longer serves you or your team. It is refreshing to start the year without clutter!
Schedule your meetings strategically – Try to schedule big meetings for later in the week, unless there is an urgent matter. You should spend the first few days catching up with emails and phone calls. The only meetings that will revitalize you will be those with your team. Make time in those few days back to reconnect and have lunch with them.
