Staying Productive During Your Lunch Break

Staying Productive

Amidst a stressful workday, that one-hour lunch break often feels like a blessing even if you’re staying productive. When you’re so consumed in your work, sometimes it feels hard to leave your computer alone, and take some time for yourself. The break you take doesn’t have to be a waste of time. In fact, by working through your lunch breaks, you may be setting yourself back.

Studies show that taking 10 minutes to sit down and eat your lunch, without distractions of technology, is very important. Lunchtime is the opportunity to take a breather, reset, and reenergize to conquer the rest of the afternoon.

Try some of these ideas to take advantage of your lunch break, while staying productive:

Return personal phone calls – Life gets busy and we can forget to make time for our friends. Return your personal phone calls, so you don’t have to stress about it later.

Go for a walk – Fresh air is essential. It’s a great way to clear your head, and recharge, while also being quite fun. Staying productive is easy when exercising because you can brainstorm your work or new ideas that you want to implement once back from your lunch break.

Read – Reading a book stimulates your brain. Set down your technology, leave it at your desk, and keep your brain pumping with a good novel.

Meditate – Meditation is everything. As humans, it’s easy for us to think way too much and get anxious, when everything will really be just fine. A 10-minute meditation can center you and have tremendous effects.
