3 Top Strategies For Brands To Support Pride Month

Public Relations Tactics

As the month of June is underway, many brands have shown their support and appreciation for the LGBTQ+ community whether it be through packaging, content creation, or through donations towards pride projects and organizations. While many companies are extremely supportive all year round, many companies have received backlash for their lack of efforts, or the way they go about it. Here are some public relations tactics and tips we have for brands supporting pride.

Consistency and Authenticity

First up: being consistent and authentic. We encourage brands to support Pride all year, not just during the month of June. Great ways for brands to support is to donate to projects like The Trevor Project and The Human Rights Campaign. In addition, you want to ensure that your brand is showing long-term support by committing to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Any brand has the ability to put a rainbow flag on a product, but showing your brand’s consistency is a positive and great way to show your support.

Celebrating the right way

Our next tip is to celebrate pride the right way. Like we previously stated, many brands have the ability to put a rainbow on their products and not go any further. Ways brands can take further steps in their support can be seen through product campaigns. A brand like PuraVida Bracelets for example, advertises their pride bracelet, where 5% of every purchase goes towards the Trevor Project. Campaigns like these, not only raise awareness and show your brand’s support but also give back to the community in a meaningful way. Following in their footsteps and creating a product campaign could be your brand’s next step to showing your commitment to inclusivity!  Click here to read about companies that support the LGBTQ+ community!

Community and Audience

Our third and final public relations tactic is recognizing and utilizing your audience. A great way to begin this process is to support local LGBTQ+ events during Pride Month. This can be done by setting up a booth during a Pride event, sponsoring an event, or marching in a parade to promote community support for your brand. Another way to connect with your audience is to collaborate with LGBTQ+ influencers. Incorporating diversity into your brand’s marketing is a great way to build connections within the LGBTQ+ community and reach a wider audience.

Supporting Pride Month through your brand is an amazing way to boost engagement with your audience, show your commitment to diversity, and overall reinforce that your brand is an inclusive space for all communities. Want to learn more about BLND PR’s  top public relations tactics – click here!
