Brands That Are Killing It in New York City

new york city

New York City is known to many as a city of “new beginnings.” Aside from our own “new beginning” (BLND PR just opened in NYC!), New York is also the home of many brands that are the firsts of their kind. They set the stage for new waves of innovation and inspiration, always changing the way people think, act, live, and most importantly: shop.

You might ask, “what makes people want to shop at some places more than others?” Our answer: because of New York PR agencies. The job of every PR firm is to get exposure for their clients–and some do it better than others. We’ve listed a few of the most unique, highly published brands that are killing it in New York City.

Beauty: Glossier (NYC showroom)

Glossier’s goal is to make beauty as much about individual style and uniqueness as fashion. The brand has become insanely popular over the past few years, mainly due to its PR game and IG grids. At 2.1m followers, @glossier posts images and videos of everything beauty-related, from their own innovative products to real customers. Featured in Forbes, GLAMOUR, and the NY Times (to name a few), Glossier is all over the media.

Its showroom in NYC is the perfect interactive store for customers to come in and sample serums, masks, lotions, creams, etc. The sleek look and simple color scheme is extremely gorgeous, which is one of the reasons why customers keep shopping!

Lifestyle: Chillhouse

Cafe + spa? Yes please. Located on the Lower East Side, Chillhouse calls itself a “destination for modern self-care,” as it offers a range of services from manicures to massages in the midst of a relaxing, aesthetically pleasing coffee shop. It has been featured in WWD, Dwell, and WhoWhatWear (go PR team!). Similar to an interactive store (like Glossier), this space will slowly change the way people shop. Instead of going to a bunch of different stores or studios to get a coffee, massage, and pedicure, Chillhouse is a one-stop-shop!

Clothing: LoveShackFancy

Founded by Rebecca Cohen, LSF is the perfect embodiment of a girly fairytale. It includes a tasteful mix of vintage prints with modern silhouettes. LSF also produces the cutest mommy-and-me sets so both girls of all ages can live their frilly, lacy dreams. The LSF IG is one of the most uniform, fun pages around. It includes a pink, blue, yellow, and white scheme in every single one of its posts, further adding to the LSF theme. LSF has been featured in several fashion magazines, like VOGUE and ELLE (any New York PR agency’s dream!).

Food: Jack’s Wife Freda

One of the most Instagrammable restaurants in New York City, Jack’s Wife Freda serves up such a wide variety of food. It has three storefront locations, in Chelsea, SoHo, and West Village. Each restaurant has a signature green and white striped awning, comfortably inviting guests inside. Because of its whimsical decor and beautifully crafted food and cocktails, Jack’s Wife Freda has a very strong IG game (which must have been helpful in securing its many features in The Huffington Post, Bon Appetit, and Goop).
