Featured Bloggers: Brock + Chris of Yummertime

Every week we bring you a featured blogger who inspires us. This week we’re mixing it up a little bit and are beyond excited to share with you Brock and Chris of Yummertime! We can’t get enough of this dynamic duo whose life and style blog is all about living the good life. Read more about Yummertime here.

Can you tell us a bit about yourselves and your backgrounds?
We’re Brock Williams and Chris Lin!

Brock’s from San Jose, California, and went to UCLA for undergrad. Chris, on the other hand, is from Southern California, having grown up in Simi Valley, and went to UC Berkeley for undergrad. We met in our senior year of college, spent a summer in Europe, moved to San Francisco, and then launched Yummertime two years later, having been unhappy with our current jobs at the time. At its foundation, we needed a creative outlet together, and thus came Yummertime 🙂

What 3 words would you use to describe yourselves?
Together: goofy, thrill-seeking, and indulgent.

Brock: sassy, sarcastic, and smart.

Chris: loud, loud, and loud.

What Profession other than yours would you love to attempt?
Other than heading up Yummertime full-time, we’d love to work at the SPCA, aiding cat and dog adoptions. Maybe not a full-scale profession, but definitely important to the both of us.

What are your favorite quotes?
“One should examine oneself for a very long time before thinking of condemning others.” -Moliere”Remember that everyone you meet wears an invisible sign that reads, ‘Notice me. Make me feel important.'” – Anonymous
What inspired your blog?
Yummertime’s been around for 1 ½ years now 🙂 and it all started from a super secret conversation between the two of us that went something like:

Brock: “This pizza tastes yumma!”
Chris: “I love that word, yumma.”
Brock: “Me too.”
Chris: “Yumma, yumma.”
Brock: “Yumma, yumma, yummertime.”
Chris: “Like summertime?”
Brock: “Yeah!”
Chris: “Yummertime summertime!”
Brock: “Yummertime!”

From there, we’d use Yummertime in our everyday conversations together. Every. Day. At the time, we were incredibly unhappy with our day jobs, and needed to find a creative outlet together. So, we started snapping photos of each other, and decided to launch a blog in June 2014.

What is your favorite social media platform and why?
It’s a toss-up between Instagram, based on both of us being so incredibly visual, always striving to capture those rather “epic” moments, and Snapchat, based solely on how much fun we have with the freedom of the platform itself. Regardless, both platforms stretch our creativity in ways no other platform really has done for us.

Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?
Yummertime is, and has always been, a visual diary of our life and lifestyle. It’s our view on our world — from tips on our style to our perspectives on travel, pop culture, pizza and tacos and gummie bears, and men’s grooming. Inspiration for blog posts and features comes straight from what we’re doing and thinking about, currently — based solely on the two of us, and no other influence 🙂 Thus, we talk about pizza. A lot.
What do you think it is about your blog that keeps people coming back for more?
Our blog is “through the lens” of two different sets of eyes, two different people, sharing a life together, so maybe that’s it? It also could be that we have a cute cat, named Thomas, who makes a presence every once and a while 😛10590504_1055126207883254_674113087886137297_nHow does a brand get your attention for a feature?
Paying attention to what we do, the smaller details, and then utilizing those details to pitch a cohesive concept and/or feature idea. No doubt, we pay attention to the brands who pay the most attention to us. It’s a two-way street 😀

What do you love most about blogging?
The freedom. Freedom to think and create our own little “mini” world — what matters most to us, like pizza and kittens. Any limitations are those that have been created by us and us alone, and that, in and of itself, is incredibly exciting.11227770_959174607478415_7809940572763971214_nWhere do you see yourselves in 10 years?
Greece! On vacation. For 6-months. YAY!

But, professionally, in 10 years we hope to have created, developed, and distributed a full-scale lifestyle brand, particularly in retail and fashion. We’ll see 😉

In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?
Whether or not, at the end of the day, an individual blogger can say, they’re having the most fun. That’s how we deem our own success.
