Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
I was born and raised in Louisville Kentucky with a loving and supportive family. I was always creative and from a young age wanted to move to Los Angeles. I modeled locally, sang at school and was always putting on some sort of performance at home. In college I finally made the transfers to LA to intern at E!, my dream job, and loved every second of it. I had to move back to Kentucky to finish school and graduate, but the week before graduation I landed an interview back in LA to be the Assistant to the Executive Producer of E! News and I got the job. I worked my way up the ladder at E! for 7 years. Among my titles were News Correspondent, where I broke celebrity news on the daily, to the Fashion & Lifestyle Segment Producer, which is what I was the last two and I half year I was there. I left a year and a half ago after deciding I wanted to learn more and be more creative as my own boss. It was a risky move and not one that I was sure of until a few months after, but it was the best decision I ever made.
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Friendly, loyal, and determined.
What Profession other than yours would you love to attempt?
I would be an entertainment attorney.
What is your favorite quote?
“Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.”
What inspired your blog?
I wanted to create an online resume as a fashion editor.
What is your favorite social media platform and why?
Instagram because I love all of the beautiful and creative photos.
Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?
I get inspired through my travels, streetstyle, magazines, movies, you name it! Recently I saw the new Cinderella movie and was so impressed with the dresses and costumes – I know I have to create an inspired look for the blog.
What do you think it is about your blog that keeps people coming back for more?
I love giving tips on what to wear where and how to style pieces differently, which I think we all need help with. I am also a very relatable southern girl living out my dreams in LA.
How does a brand get your attention for a feature?
I feature brands that I love – so if I follow them on Instagram or go to a press preview and love what I see, then I would try to get some pieces to wear on the blog. I also have brands that I have been a loyal fan of for years that I continually feature and wear on my blog. When it’s good, it’s good!
I love that I never know what tomorrow may bring and having the freedom to work from anywhere and everywhere.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Balancing a career in fashion with a lovely family.
In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?
Having an authentic voice and strong sense of self and style are key to making the blog a success. If you have a story and are willing to share it, people will gravitate towards you. We all want to be able to relate to others and have someone helping make our daily decisions, including what to wear on date night or to lunch with the girls. Beautiful photos and well-produced videos are also very important to keeping people coming back.
