The Importance of Self Care

The term “self-care” has been so hot this year, so much so that the phrase is practically unavoidable. But what exactly is self-care and how can we incorporate this self-preservation method into our daily lives without being overly indulgent? Especially for those working in public relations, life can get very stressful very quickly. These tips will help you find balance in your life, no matter what it throws at you.
Mastering a Healthy Work-Life Balance
As it turns out, “work hard, play hard” may not be the best mantra to live by. Our bodies and minds crave stability in all things we do, so creating an environment that switches back and forth between these two extremes can be detrimental to your health and wellbeing. Balancing work with rest, exercise, free time, and fun can be a challenge, but it’s not impossible. Making a schedule (and sticking to it) can be a big help when trying to make time for self-care. Scheduling breaks during work, workouts throughout the week, and time for family and friends will help you meet all your personal needs while still being a boss at work.
At our public relations agency, we are conscious to take walks, get outside, and take timely breaks to avoid burnout and increase productivity. A balanced life is the first step in self-care. Even all the face masks in the world can’t actually solve your problems- but still make time for those too! Our PR professionals at BLND Public Relations are masters at balancing the fast-paced demands of the field with ease.
Skincare as Self-Care
When you look up self-care on the internet this is what you usually see: girls in face masks with cucumber slices over their eyes. And while self-care incorporates many aspects of wellness, we are still a fan of face masks as a fool-proof remedy to relieve stress and tension. Try this at home facial from Jurlique that will have you looking well-rested and energized- even if you’re not. Starting by washing away any impurities from the face with Jurlique’s Revitalising Cleansing Gel. After cleansing the face, apply a layer of Jurlique’s Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cream Mask all over your face. This moisturizing mask, made with rose hip and macadamia oil, will plump and resurface dull skin. To finish up, spritz some of Jurlique’s bestselling Rosewater Balancing Mist to leave your face looking refreshed and dewy.
Sound Space, Sound Mind
Living and working in a space that is designed for focus and clarity is a great way to practice self-care on a daily basis. Healthy Building Certificate, dedicated to designing and creating spaces that promote health and wellbeing, takes an architectural approach to self-care. Whether it’s your home or office, HB Certificate focuses on improving lighting, acoustics, sustainability, air quality and more. HB Certificate founder, Allan Lopes describes how these aspects of your spaces can affect mental clarity and overall wellbeing. An HBC certified space can improve focus, combat mid-day tiredness, and encourage a better night’s sleep.
These self-care tips and tricks are guaranteed to leave you feeling more relaxed and balanced on a day-to-day basis. Need a complete break from work and stress? Check out our blog on the perfect things to do for an LA staycation.
